Why ICNL?

A lot of people have asked why we called the blog I’m Cooking No Looking, and hers the reason. When Coco was a child they moved house and her Mum would only look at houses that had separate kitchens and diners. Her reason was that she didn’t want people to be able to see the mess she had made while preparing their food, ad therefore a kitchen with a shut door was preferable.

In adulthood, we all agree that there is nothing worse than when someone interferes when you are cooking. Whether its someone trying to be helpful by telling you that you are cooking it wrong, or someone stirring when you don’t need it stirring, its irritating. So hence I’m Cooking No Looking was born!!

  1. Funny how people are so different. When we were house shopping it was a MUST that the kitchen be attached and open to another room so that I could cook while visiting with people at the same time. Plus if the kitchen could be big enough for two to cook in it that would be even better.

Granted it takes me a lot longer to cook ANYTHING when I am talking to people, but I love to visit and cook at the same time.

  4. I can totally relate!!! I am a one woman show in the kitchen! Unless you are chopping or cleaning up my mess, don’t interfere with what I’m doing!

Thank you for liking my post Gg’s Dry Beef Hor Fun (http://achievingdomesticgoddessness.wordpress.com/2011/11/24/ggs-dry-beef-hor-fun/) by the way! I’m following you now!

  5. Yes, I hate people interfering with me in the kitchen. What’s worse is I’m married to a professional Chef! People think that would be a “fun” thing.

But in social scenarios I really like having people sitting around chatting and drinking wine and enjoying the smells while I cook them a splendid meal. So I guess it all depends on the situation.
